American Repertory Ballet World Premiere: "Worlds end. And worlds begins."
This performance is made possible by grants from Cultural Affairs Committee, Dean's Office of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the University Academic Theme Committee.
The American Repertory Ballet (ARB) and renowned choreographer, Graham Lustig, present the world premiere of Worlds End, a new collaborative work based on a text by Richard E. Miller, author of Writing at the End of the World, and music by local composer and MU faculty member, Rusty Banks. Don't miss this unique opportunity to witness the birth of a new work. The world premiere will feature ARB's impressive and powerful dancers, the 100-voice strong Millersville University Choral Union and the Continental Trombone Quartet.
The American Repertory Ballet (ARB), with its mission to convey the joy of dance and present the best in contemporary ballet, is one of America's leading dance companies. ARB and its official education arm, the Princeton Ballet School, have a history of dance excellence spanning half a century. Artistic leader, Graham Lustig, considered one of the finest choreographers working today, has created ballets for companies around the globe. The company hails from places as diverse as Australia, Jamaica, South Africa, Argentine and Brazil, as well as throughout the United States. The collaboration between ARB and Millersville University in the creation of a new work is the first of its kind at Millersville, bringing together the formidable talents of Graham Lustig (ARB); Dr. Richard E. Miller, a provocative analyst of the role of the humanities in the 21st century and Chair of the Rutgers University English Department; Rusty Banks, an Alabama-born composer and guitarist, now teaching at Millersville University; Dr. Jeffrey Gemmell, a specialist in performing new music by contemporary composers and director of Choral Programs at Millersville University; and the Continental Trombone Quartet, dedicated to the performance of original works composed for the modern trombone quartet.
