LYTE AUDITORIUM
Lyte Auditorium, a 700-seat performing arts space with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, is the jewel of Alumni Hall, adjacent to Lyle Hall. The auditorium is the venue for student and faculty recitals as well as the annual Cultural Events Series, which has brought to Millersville performers like the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra and the National Theater of the Deaf. The hall also houses rehearsal space and offices for the Music department.
Eliphalet Oram Lyte, who served from 1887-1912, was a professor of rhetoric and bookkeeping who later became President (Principal) of Millersville Normal School. He is also known to have written the song "Row, Row Your Boat."
